About Kenny "Sky" Walker

Co-host · UK Basketball Legend

A University of Kentucky legend and NBA standout, Kenny "Sky" Walker is one of the most beloved figures in Bluegrass sports history and a veteran sports media personality. Hailing from Roberta, Georgia, Walker arrived in Lexington in 1982 as a McDonald's All-American before putting together one of the most dominant collegiate careers in UK Wildcats basketball history.

During his four seasons in Lexington, Walker earned consensus All-American honors twice (1985, 1986), won two SEC Player of the Year awards, and led the Wildcats to the 1984 NCAA Final Four. He finished his collegiate career as the second all-time leading scorer in UK men's basketball history with 2,080 points, earning the honor of having his No. 34 jersey retired to the rafters of Rupp Arena and later being inducted into the UK Athletics Hall of Fame.

Selected fifth overall in the first round of the 1986 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks, Walker played five seasons in New York and two seasons with the Washington Bullets, alongside professional stints in Spain, Italy, and Japan. On the national stage, he captivated fans worldwide by winning the 1989 NBA Slam Dunk Contest in iconic fashion.

Following his playing career, Walker transitioned to sports talk radio in Central Kentucky. For over two decades, he served as co-host of the syndicated call-in show Cat Talk alongside the late Wes Strader, while also becoming a fixture across Lexington airwaves on News Talk 590 WVLK. Today, Walker continues to bring his insider perspective, infectious energy, and deep connection with Big Blue Nation to the broadcast booth and the local community.
